LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky holds at No. 9, and Louisville drops down one spot to No. 12. That's where the teams will be ranked in the first Associated Press regular-season Top 25 when the meet on Tuesday in the KFC Yum! Center.

The big shakeup was at the top, with Houston overtaking Purdue in the No. 1 spot after the Boilermakers fell to Kentucky in a preseason exhibition in the KFC Yum! Center.

Purdue got twice as many first-place votes, but Houston had more points in the polling of national media. Four other teams got first-place votes in addition to the top two: No. 3 UConn, No. 4 Duke and No. 6 Michigan and No. 8 Alabama, which jumped seven spots after an overtime win over St. John's.

Arizona jumped eight spots to No. 5 thanks to its upset of defending national champion Florida in Las Vegas. The Gators fell seven spots to No. 10.

Texas Tech was No. 11. Louisville is followed immediately in the rankings by No. 13 St Johns, Illinois, UCLA, Iowa State, Michigan State and North Carolina.

Tuesday's meeting marks the first time since 2019 that both Kentucky and Louisville will be ranked at the time of their meeting.
