LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Louisville Kings officially opened training camp Monday, beginning a four-week evaluation process that will trim an initial roster of up to 64 players down to the 50 who will represent the city when the UFL expansion franchise opens its inaugural season.
Head coach Chris Redman welcomed his full coaching staff to Arlington, Texas, several days before players arrived. The Kings will practice at Pennington Stadium while headquartered in Arlington ahead of their Louisville debut.
"We have two guys that were head coaches in college and in spring football leagues previously, so it makes all the difference in the world when you have people around you to help you, walk you through different things," Redman said. "I really enjoy our staff. We've gelled really good together."

On offense, Steve Logan will serve as offensive coordinator. Logan brings more than five decades of coaching experience at the high school, college and professional levels, including head coaching stints at Hutchinson Community College and East Carolina and assistant roles in the SEC, ACC, NFL and NFL Europe.
Wide receivers coach Tony Banks played 10 seasons in the NFL, earning PFWA All-Rookie honors and a Super Bowl XXXV championship before transitioning to high school coaching. He makes his professional coaching debut with the Kings.
Tight ends coach Jeff Jagodzinski has more than 40 years of experience in the college and professional ranks. As head coach at Boston College, he went 20-8 with two division titles and a bowl win before moving on to the NFL and various spring leagues.
Offensive line coach Breno Giacomini is a Louisville homecoming story. The former Cardinals standout and second-team All-Big East selection spent 11 years in the NFL and won a Super Bowl XLVIII title with Seattle before returning to Louisville to begin his coaching career.
On defense, Jamie Sharper takes over as defensive coordinator. A former first-team All-ACC linebacker at Virginia, Sharper had a nine-year NFL career that included a Super Bowl XXXV title with Baltimore and a league-leading 166 tackles with Houston in 2003. He most recently helped the DC Defenders win the 2025 UFL championship.
"Jamie was a defensive coach for the DC team that won the whole league last year," Redman said. "So that is an advantage to have someone who knows what it takes, and exactly what they did last year to win a championship."
Brad Jackson coaches the linebackers. A former two-sport athlete at Cincinnati and third-round NFL Draft pick, Jackson won a Super Bowl XXXV ring with the Ravens and spent time in broadcasting before making his coaching debut.
Chris McAlister, a unanimous All-American at Arizona and ninth overall draft pick, coaches the defensive backs. The former Ravens cornerback played 11 NFL seasons and recorded 26 career interceptions before stepping into his first coaching role.
The Kings are scheduled to make their Louisville debut March 27 at Lynn Family Stadium, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET.
