PHILADELPHIA (WDRB) -- Louisville native Brandon Pfaadt added to an already historic postseason run with the biggest start of his career on Tuesday night.

In game 7 of the National League Championship Series, the Trinity High School and Bellarmine University alumnus started for the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 4-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies to send Arizona to the World Series. It is the franchise's first World Series appearance since winning it in 2001.Ā

Pfaadt pitched 4 innings and struck out 7 batters over them, giving up just 2 runs. He now has 16 strikeouts over his last two starts.

Coming into Tuesday, the rookie pitcher was riding a streak no other player in baseball history can claim. With starts on Oct. 11 and 19 against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Phillies, Pfaadt became the first pitcher in history to give up no runs and issue zero walks in back-to-back postseason starts.

Arizona will face the Texas Rangers in pursuit of its second-ever championship. The entire World Series can be watched on WDRB starting on Oct. 27.
