LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hurstbourne County Club will host a PGA Tour event beginning next summer.
The ISCO Championship will move from Nicholasville to Louisville starting in 2025, and local and state officials joined tour representatives Tuesday at Hurstbourne to officially announce the news. ISCO officials said they picked the club off Shelbyville Road in east Louisville because of the shape of the course and its facilities.
"People will be coming to Kentucky from all over the world — tour players and visitors, there will be media from all over the world — to see what's happening in our state," Jimmy Kirchdorfer, CEO of ISCO Industries and part-owner of Valhalla Golf Club, said Tuesday. "For us to be able to host a PGA Tour event on an annual basis is a big deal for our city."
The first iteration of the ISCO Championship at Hurstbourne will take place July 10-13, 2025.
"The ISCO Championship shines a global spotlight on Kentucky's unique golf landscape, highlighted by world-class courses, significant junior and collegiate programs and a deep-rooted love for the game," Tyler Dennis, chief competitions officer for the PGA Tour, said in a news release Tuesday. "By bringing the tournament to Hurstbourne Country Club, we are showcasing yet another premier Kentucky golf venue on the world stage."
Hurstbourne Country Club is one of Louisville's best courses. Earlier this year, it was named the fourth-best course in Kentucky by Golf Digest.
"Set against the backdrop of Kentucky's picturesque landscapes and vibrant cultural attractions, the ISCO Championship will be uniquely Kentucky and embody the best that Bluegrass hospitality has to offer," Tournament Director T.R. Hollis said in a news release Tuesday. "The stunning scenery at Hurstbourne Country Club will enhance the tournament experience for both players and spectators alike, creating unforgettable memories for all who attend."

For the last six years, the tournament has been held at Champion Trace in Nicholasville, the only PGA Tour stop in Kentucky. Previously called the Barbasol Championship, ISCO took over the naming rights for the event before this year's event, which was held earlier this month. English golfer Harry Hall won, earning himself a spot in this week's Open Championship at Royal Troon, the year's last major championship.
The past winners at Champions at Keene Trace include:
- 2018: Troy Merritt
- 2019: Jim Herman
- 2020: Canceled
- 2021: Seamus Power
- 2022: Trey Mullinax
- 2023: Vincent Norrman
- 2024: Harry Hall
The tournament is an "opposite-field" event, meaning it's held during the same week as another, higher-profile event on the tour calendar. It's played the same week as the Genesis Scottish Open, which draws many of the world's top players preparing for the following week's Open Championship." It has a $4 million purse, and the winner is awarded 300 FedExCup points.
"I’m delighted to welcome the ISCO Championship to Louisville," Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said in a news release Tuesday. "This is an incredible development and decision that will add to the ever-growing foundation we have built through professional golf in the city of Louisville, which was on display at the PGA Championship this past May. My sincere thanks to Jimmy Kirchdorfer and ISCO Industries for their work and commitment to bring this premier event to our city, and we look forward to being a can’t miss stop on the PGA TOUR."
