LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Cincinnati Reds ace Hunter Greene set a personal goal for himself throughout his two rehab appearances with the Louisville Bats.
Throw a pair of scoreless outings.
He did just that.
Across his two rehab starts, Greene did not allow a single run, struck out seven and walked one batter.
Greene has not played in MLB this season after undergoing surgery on March 11 to remove bone chips in his left elbow.
"I've been focusing on the mental side," Greene said following his second start. "I've been doing a lot of visualization, prepping for the teams I'm going to face and mentally getting in the right mindset so that I'm not behind the eight ball. I feel like I'm prepared in all facets."
Greene pushed to face one more batter after six flawless frames, signaling to Bats Manager Pat Kelly and saying it wasn't much of a conversation.
"I wanted to go back out there and finish. It's really important as a starter to get that up-down, when you sit down and have to get the body going again to start another inning. I wanted to make sure I got the most out of this last start, physically, before going back up [to the majors]."
Greene is expected to join the Reds in Cincinnati later this week.
