LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Else Praasterink, the only University of Louisville diver ever to reach the Olympic Games, has now become the first to reach a final.
The Netherlands native, who is competing for her home country, placed 12th in the semis to earn a spot in the finals.
She had a historic season at U of L in 2022-23, earning All-American honors. She was a finalist in the 3 meters and finished eighth in the NCAA. She also finished eighth in platform, after setting a new school record in the event in zone qualifying.
She punched her ticket for Paris with an impressive showing at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar, where she placed 11th in platform.
In Paris, she scored a 56.55 on her 205B (pike) and a 58.80 on her 305C (tuck). She scored a 58.50 on her 107B and put up a 62.40 on her 407C on her highest difficulty dive (3.2). She boarded a 56.55 on her 5152B on her final dive.
The finals begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday and will be streamed live on Peacock.
