LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville women's basketball made quick work of all three teams in the three-day event it hosted this weekend, capped off by a rout of the Bellarmine Knights Sunday afternoon at the KFC Yum! Center.
The Cardinals raced out to lead 30-6 after one quarter and 58-13 at halftime against Bellarmine. All 12 players scored, and eight players scored at least eight points in a 100-37 victory that ran the Cards record to 7-2.
Bellarmine dropped to 2-7 overall in year one under head coach and U of L Hall of Famer Monique Reid. The former standout player under Jeff Walz is down to just eight healthy players.
The Knights were never in this one, shooting just 20% from the field, and 4-of-27 from the 3-point line.
Louisville followed up Friday night's 91-38 win over Eastern Illinois and Saturday's 88-50 win over East Tennessee State with another lopsided triumph.
The games provided Walz an opportunity to mix lineups and give everybody significant minutes. The Cardinals moved the ball well and shot 51% for the game, including 13-of-34 from the 3-point line.
Imari Berry led four players in double figures with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting in 16 minutes. Reyna Scott had 13, Tajianna Roberts had 12 and Rebekah Graves had 10.
Bellarmine was led by Rachel Shropshire with 10 points.
Things get tougher this week for 23rd-ranked Louisville. They host unbeaten 2nd-ranked South Carolina Thursday at 7 p.m. at the KFC Yum! Center. That's part of the ACC-SEC Challenge.
Bellarmine is on the road, playing at Illinois Tuesday.
