WDRB Crossroads — Hoosier Eats

In this episode of Crossroads, host Dalton Godbey heads across the Ohio River for a food tour through Southern Indiana, discovering unique restaurants, hometown comfort food, and a legendary candy shop that has been serving sweet treats for generations.

The journey begins in New Albany at Lady Tron’s, a one-of-a-kind portable steel diner known for its retro-futuristic style and creative menu. Inside the shiny metal diner, Dalton explores the quirky atmosphere and samples some of the unique dishes that have made this spot a favorite for locals looking for something a little different.

Next, Dalton travels deeper into Southern Indiana to the small river town of Leavenworth for a stop at The Overlook Restaurant. Perched high above the Ohio River, the restaurant offers stunning views alongside classic comfort food favorites. From pork chops and fried chicken to homemade sides and slices of delicious pie, it’s the kind of meal that perfectly captures the flavors of the region.

Finally, the tour ends in Jeffersonville at Schimpff’s Confectionery, one of the oldest family-owned candy shops in the country. Dalton learns about the rich history of the shop before stepping behind the scenes to help make — and of course taste — their famous red hots, a sweet and spicy candy that has been delighting visitors for decades.
