LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Think you might want to see what it would be like to be an FBI agent? Kentucky teens can have the opportunity this summer with the FBI Teen Academy in Louisville!
During the FBI Teen Academy, students will learn counter intelligence, evidence gathering, and bomb collection.
Tim Beam and Ann Claire Lutz visited WDRB Mornings on Thursday to talk more about the summer camp.
The academy gives students a look behind the curtain of what really goes on in the FBI. Beam said they will touch on all topics, from terrorism, counter espionage, public corruption and more.
While the FBI hosts the week-long academy, it gives the FBI staff a chance to rejuvenate their passion for the program as well as give the students a chance to have a positive interaction with law enforcement.
Lutz was part of the academy last year and she said it was a great experience. She got to learn about the different aspects of the FBI, and even the internal positions that you may not see on the popular TV shows.
"Even if you have a sliver of interest in the FBI, I would encourage you to do it," Lutz said. "You get to meet people that work within the FBI as well as other kids who have the same interests as you."
There is an application process to take part in the camp. Officials will look over academics and extracurriculars, as well as an essay that writes to why they would want to be a part of the academy.
Applications are due May 25, they can be found here. All high school age students can apply.
Students do not have to live in Louisville to take part in the academy.
The academy runs from July 9 to July 12 and is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
