LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Kentucky restaurant was selected as one of USA Today's Restaurants of the Year.

Barn 8 is the definition of farm-to-table dining. Located on Hermitage Farm in Goshen the new-American restaurant uses all fresh ingredients that are grown on the farm.

Their goal is to highlight their local environment as well as build up the community.

Barn 8's Executive Chef Seth Kinder visited WDRB Mornings on Friday to talk more about the restaurant and what it means to them to make the USA Today list.

Each restaurant was hand selected by a board of local dining reporters. Barn 8 was recognized on Feb. 15 in the publication's first ever restaurant competition.

"It's very humbling and exciting," Kinder said. "There's a lot of hard work that goes into it, so we are very excited."

While the farm has been around for over a century, the restaurant has been open just over four years.

Barn 8 Restaurant is set up inside an old horse barn, just right outside the greenhouse where some of its ingredients are grown. The whole dining process is an experience.

Barn 8 is also home to The Bourbon Bar and Lounge, offering bourbons from several distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
