LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Keith Kaiser learns about the 150 years of history that was restored at the WaterWorks Museum.
Louisville Water completed a restoration of its original pumping station (1860 facility) at Zorn and River Road restoring more than 150 years of history.
Pumping Station No. 1 is being restored as closely as possible to its original condition when it was constructed between 1858 and 1860.
They are reopening the facility on Saturday, March 1st with the "WaterWorks Museum."
The museum explores all things water from how we make drinking water, a look at the history of water in this community and some gee-whiz activities/info.
The WaterWorks Museum highlights Louisville Water's archive of historic photographs, films and memorabilia.
It also explores the company's contributions to water delivery through innovations in science, engineering and architecture.
The inspiration for the WaterWorks Museum came from a positive response to a 150th anniversary exhibit at the Frazier History Museum in 2010-11.
The museum will be open to the public and to schools for field trips.
It's also available for private rentals.
