More Kentucky counties have been placed in the Heat Advisory issued for our region including Washington, Marion, Taylor, and Green. The only county in our viewing area not included in the Heat Advisory is Adair County.

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ TUESDAY...
* WHAT...Multiple days of heat index values over 100 expected.
* WHERE...Portions of south central Indiana and east central, north
central, northwest, and south central Kentucky.
* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

While the current Heat Advisory comes to an end on Tuesday evening, don't be surprised if it is extended to Wednesday or beyond. Those "feels-like" temperatures will likely be at their highest on Wednesday, and they could stay at or above 100° into next weekend.

On another note, don't forget to protect yourself against the sun's UV rays this week! The UV Index will be in the "extreme" category for at least the next 3 days, which means fair-skinned people could start experiencing sunburn within 10 minutes of being in direct sunlight. Staying indoors from 10 AM - 4 PM will help you avoid the worst of the sun's UV rays.
