It's that time of year again when many of us are really starting to notice the earlier sunsets and the later sunrises around our area. The long days of sunlight from Summer are coming to an end now that we're getting closer to Fall and you'll notice a big drop in the amount of daylight we have by the end of this month.

So, just exactly how much daylight do we have right now, and how much are we losing by the time we get to the end of September and until Winter? Well today, we have around 12 hours and 44 mins of daylight. To compare, at the very beginning of last month, we had 14 hours and 6 mins of daylight.

By the time the end of September rolls around, we've already lost an additional 56 minutes of daylight, down to 11 hours and 48 mins.

Next thing you know by the time we get to Halloween on October 31st, we've dropped under the 11 hour mark to 10 hours and 35 mins of daylight.

The shortest day of the year, which just happens to be right where Winter starts, on December 20th/21st, we've bottomed out at only 9 hours and 30 minutes of daylight.
