The first day of play for the PGA is going well in terms of weather. We've had a decent mix of sun and clouds today, but a few light showers have been moving through Southern Indiana this afternoon. A little drizzle or a small shower can't be ruled out this evening. Temperatures will hover in the middle 70s through the dinner hour and drop back to the low 60s late tonight as showers and possibly some storms roll in well after midnight.

Rain chances will be off-and-on throughout Friday. Storms will bring some lightning to the forecast, but severe weather is not anticipated. Showers will likely be present during the pre-dawn hours and the morning commute. for folks trying to watch the golf pros live at Valhalla, don't be surprised if there are delays in game play.

More rain is expected in the afternoon and evening. While it won't be an all day rain, we can't tell you exactly when you will see the rain in your specific location or how many rounds of showers/storms you will get.

Once all is said and done, most models point to a most spots picking up roughly .5" of rain; however, if showers sit over an area for a long period of time OR if you get a few rounds of storms, higher rainfall totals should be expected.

For those that do end up on the higher end of the rainfall measurements on Friday/Friday night, flooding issues could arise especially since some places received a decent amount of rain from the last system that moved through on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Weather Prediction Center has issued a marginal (level 1 of 4) risk of excessive rain for much of KY and Indiana, but some communities in Western KY have been places in the slight (level 2 of 4) risk for excessive rain leading to flooding problems.

For those heading out to Valhalla this week, the poncho will be a highly desired commodity with Friday's off-and-on showers/storms, but you might be able to get through Saturday without it. Rain chances seem to be decreasing Saturday, and any rain we do get should be on the lighter side and shouldn't stick around too long. Sunday will be warm and dry!
