LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Volunteers spent Friday morning putting together food boxes so people can have a nice meal this Christmas.
The boxes for the 13th annual "Boxes of Love" at 4th Street Live! included hams and sides. Organizers said 1,500 meals were being delivered Friday by first responders, veterans and union members to pre-selected families.
"It's really awesome that we're able to help these families, and it really makes a big difference of them having a meal for Christmas or skipping and not having anything decent to eat for Christmas," Peter Hayes, with Compassion Games, said.
Throughout the last 13 years, 16,100 Boxes of Love have gone out to local families.
