With the tons of rain we just had, the last thing on our mind is probably extreme heat, but that is what is coming next. This upcoming week will likely be a very hot one with dangerous heat in our area. Some of us are already included in a Heat Advisory starting Monday and lasting all the way through Thursday. Lawrence, Jackson, and Jennings counties are included in that now, but more will likely be added by Monday.
You can see more Excessive Heat Watches back to our west as well and Excessive Heat Warnings once you get out into parts of Illinois and Missouri. Heat index values up to 105 and in some cases up to 110 look to be a possibility, especially Tuesday - Thursday.Â
Again, this will likely be expanded at some point to include most of, if not our entire area.Â
