The Great Gatsby musical
The Great Gatsby Musical is in Louisville for one more weekend.
Set in the Roaring Twenties, The Great Gatsby follows eccentric and mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby, who will stop at nothing in the pursuit of the lost love of his youth, Daisy Buchanan. Now, the epic tale gets told through song.
The Tony Award-winning production comes to life across North American stages, and it also has a Louisville connection.
While in Army training at nearby Camp Taylor, famed author, F. Scott Fitzgerald, often visited The Seelbach on weekend passes to sip Kentucky bourbon and smoke expensive cigars. During his visits, Fitzgerald encountered gangster George Remus, who became the model for Jay Gatsby in "The Great Gatsby."
His experiences in The Seelbach's elegant rooms inspired him to use the hotel as a model during the writing of his classic 1920s novel "The Great Gatsby."
There are showings Saturday, Feb. 14, and Sunday, Feb. 15, in the afternoon and evening.
Abbey Road presents Number Ones...And more
Abbey Road brings the sounds of The Beatles to the Bomhard Theater at the Kentucky Center for Performing Arts this weekend.
"Number Ones...And More" features "virtually every" No. 1 single the band achieved.
The tribute artist is described as having "tight harmonies, flawless note for note renditions of Beatles hits, custom-tailored costumes, vintage instruments, Liverpudlian dialect and precise attention to every detail."
The band will have three costume changes to transition into the different eras of the band, with the early black suits to the Sgt. Pepper's regalia and Abbey Road attire.
The show is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.
