LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville residents looking to drop off storm debris at collection sites across the city after this week's severe weather won't be able to do so until next week.Â
With more severe weather expected through Sunday, Louisville Public Works isn't planning to open collection sites until next Monday, April 7, Kristen Shanahan, spokesperson for Louisville's health department, said in a written statement.
"Normally, we would have opened collection sites across Louisville Metro today, but due to more predicted severe weather and flooding we will need to delay this plan," she said. "Unless there is further damage or major flooding that requires additional change, we plan to open debris drop-off sites across Louisville Metro next Monday, April 7."
The powerful storms that moved through Kentucky and Indiana late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning left behind damage and destruction from Jeffersontown to Jeffersonville. Surveys by the National Weather Service have already confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down in the Jeffersontown area and was on the ground for just over half-a-mile.Â
