LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new partnership between the Heuser Hearing Institute, Christopher 2X Game Changers and UofL Health's Future Healers will engage kids with hearing health care.
The program is designed to bridge the gap between health care and Louisville youth who are most impacted by gun violence.
"Hearing health care is frequently overlooked in children's overall care, yet it can directly affect speech and language development, behavior and success in early education," Christopher 2X Game Changers said in a news release. "This partnership is designed to increase understanding and awareness for both children and parents, so concerns are recognized earlier and support is accessed sooner."
Heuser developed curriculum that will be used in the "Future Healers Journey to Wellness" workbook. Leaders said it will provide practical tools children and parents can use immediately.
"We need audiology in our curriculum and now we got it through Heuser Hearing Institute," Christopher 2X said during a news conference Thursday. "And the hearing health information that's going to go in the book, besides the videos, besides other advocacy avenues that we're going to pursue as we brainstorm into the future on how to do this and impact kids and families alike."
The partnership was made possible with help from Kosair for Kids.
