LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Kingdom brought smiles to children Tuesday but not through thrill rides.
The amusement park collected toys from guests and delivered them to patients at Norton Children's Hospital today.
Kentucky Kingdom collected the toys July 25 and discount admission in exchange for a new, unwrapped toy. Park officials said they decided to do a summer drive because the hospital said donations flood in during the holidays but not as much during the rest of the year.
"We know that families here are going through a hard time, so we wanted to bring them a little joy by being able to share with them the toys that guests have collected throughout the community," said Carly Uglow with Kentucky Kingdom.
Hundreds of toys were donated and delivered to patients at Norton Children's Hospital by Discovery Meadow character Robin Bloom.
If you missed the toy drive, but would like to make a donation, go to the Norton Children's website.
