LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Kentuckians will be able to fish for free this weekend.

From June 6-7, no license is needed to fish.

All other regulations, including size limits and the number of fish people can keep still apply.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife is encouraging people of all ages to take advantage of the state's free fishing weekend.

Communities across the state also participate by offering different events for anglers, especially for kids.

Kentucky hosts Free Fishing Weekend every year, allowing residents to enjoy fishing across the state without purchasing a license or permit. 

Officials said people can download the Fish Boat KY app, which helps users find directions to local lakes, read about regulations and more. To download or learn more, click here.
