LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It was a day filled with hope, joy and fun at Kentucky Kingdom on Saturday.

That's when the Make-A-Wish Foundation held its annual Walk for Wishes at the park. Current Wish kids and Wish alumni were all invited.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation helps grant wishes for children and families with critical illnesses.

The day got started with a fundraising walk, and the rest of the day was for fun and rides.

Erin Quire with Make-A-Wish said fundraising events like the one held at the park are necessary to keep making dreams come true.

"Right here in Central Kentucky and the Louisville area we have around 200 that we have promised a wish, so events like today and events we host throughout the year help us grant those wishes and all of the money raised today stays local."

Since it was founded in 1983, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted more than 21,000 wishes and experiences.
