LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- 'Tis the season! At least for one Louisville radio station that's continuing its tradition of playing only Christmas music until the end of the season.
Mix 106.9 is now all Christmas, all the time. The station usually flips its format from popular hits to Christmas classics on Nov. 1, but, this year, it started early, making the switch at 10 p.m. on Halloween. It's something employees say the station has been doing for three decades, and people look forward to it.
"Yes, it is very early that we flip to Christmas music, but people have been waiting for this since like March," 106.9 DJ Jordan Rivers said.
The staff makes plans for the switch days in advance, decorating the audio booth with stocking, trees, ornaments and snowflakes.
"The music just brings out a different spirit in you," Rivers said. "It brings out a positive time in the season. It gets everyone thinking about the gifts, thinking about the food they're going to cook and all the family that's going to hang around. So we're very happy to be a part of that tradition."
102.3 The Rose has also switched to playing nothing but Christmas music until the end of the year.
