LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville Hospital’s NICU looked more like a mini zoo Tuesday morning as the newborns celebrated their first Halloween.

Lions, monkeys, peacocks and more took over the unit, thanks to the hospital staff who make the annual tradition possible.

A hospital stay didn’t keep the infants from enjoying a Halloween celebration.

Each year, the NICU nurses raise money to buy costumes for the infants, ensuring they get a festive start to their first Halloween.

The annual event brings smiles not only to families but also to the staff caring for the babies around the clock.
