LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville judge sentenced a now-17-year-old in the murder of a 13-year-old.

In court Tuesday, the attorney for Daniel Wallace asked the judge for probation, but judge Sarah Clay denied that request.

Wallace pleaded guilty to possession of a gun as a minor, facilitation of robbery and tampering in the death of DaViawn Blackmon, who was shot in the head and robbed in an alley near Broadway and 38th Street in June 2024.

The shooter, Brad Watkins, was 15 at the time. His accomplice, Wallace, then 16, robbed Blackmon as he laid bleeding on the ground.

Watkins pleaded guilty to murder and other charges and was sentenced to 23 years earlier this month.

"This is not an easy decision," Judge Clay said. "These decisions are very hard especially when I'm dealing with someone who is a child, which you are. The crimes you have committed are, although you've pled guilty to D-level felonies, they did lead to the death of another child."

Wallace will also get credit for time served.
