LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Children in Madison, Indiana, will be able to enjoy summer fun at a pool thanks to a partnership.

The City of Madison Parks and Recreation partnered with Jane's Kids — also known as River Valley Resources — and Bethany Legacy Foundation to make Crystal Beach Aquatic Park accessible to all Jefferson County residents.

"We believe every child deserves the opportunity to enjoy the simple pleasures of summer, regardless of their economic circumstances," Madison Mayor Bob Courtney said in a news release Wednesday. "We are thankful for the commitment of Jane’s Kids, Bethany Legacy Foundation, and Madison Parks and Recreation to ensure Crystal Beach Aquatic Park is accessible to all families to enjoy a summer of fun."

According to a news release, children in need will have access to day passes at Crystal Beach Aquatic Park at no cost all summer. The initiative plans to remove financial barriers and provide opportunities for all children to have fun at Crystal Beach.

Families who qualify for state SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) benefits are able to enjoy free unlimited visits throughout the season.

"Crystal Beach is more than water and concrete. It is the heart of our community – a place where community bonds will be built and people of all ages, generations and all walks of life will come together," Dora Anim, president and CEO of the Bethany Legacy Foundation, said in a news release. "The significant health and social benefits made this a strong ‘YES’ investment for Bethany Legacy Foundation."

To qualify for day passes, families must visit River Valley Resources at 100 E 2nd Street in Madison starting on May 13. Families can also complete applications by clicking here or visiting Brown Gym from 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday starting May 20.
