LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New national retail shops are helping to attract people to Madison, Indiana.
The City of Madison held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday at The Shoppes at Sunrise Crossing to celebrate the four stores that have opened thus far: Five Below, Kohl's, Hobby Lobby and TJ Maxx.
The project was first announced in March 2022.
The area of the city known as the "hilltop," off Michigan Road and Clifty Drive, is about a five-minute drive from the historic downtown. The 22-acre site has been empty for about a decade.Â
There are also plans for restaurants and housing to come to the area. Apartments are expected to start being built in the spring.
