LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A section of Bardstown Road was closed to cars this weekend for the return of CycLOUvia.

The stretch between Grinstead Drive to Douglass Loop was only open for walking, biking, skating and playing during Sunday afternoon.

CycLOUvia is an annual event that transforms some of Louisville's most popular streets into car-free zones for a few hours.

The goal is to promote healthy activity, support local businesses and brings neighbors together.

"It feels so community-based but also, like, I'm skateboarding down and little kids will be like 'woah, that's a tiny little skateboard' — that makes me smile," Elise Timmons, attendee, said.

The free event is put on by the Louisville Metro Department of Transportation. Officials said the event showcases how the city's roads can be shared in creative, safe ways.
