LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A parade of heroes is planned for the 14th annual Kentucky Veterans Day Parade in downtown Louisville, and veterans are invited to join in Operation Rendezvous.
Organizers said this year's commemoration on Nov. 9 will be its largest mission to date. Convoys of military vehicles will come from the north, south, east and west sides of the city. All of them will converge in downtown Louisville where families can watch the parade and then check out a static display of military vehicles along Jefferson Street.
Veteran Art Geahr is with Kilroy, a local military vehicle preservation group, helps put on the show of appreciation to honor our heroes. He and Todd Dunn, with Ford UAW, explained the massive effort they put into the commemoration.
The 2024 grand marshal is Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Don "Doc" Ballard, who represents the Armed Forces Medic Corps.
The 2024 Veterans Day Parade starts at noon on Saturday, Nov. 9, on Jefferson Street. Before the parade, convoys of military vehicles will be driving through the city.
Veterans and military organizations who want to be in the parade are encouraged to register online by Nov. 1, 2024. Click here to register.
