LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Show-stopping horses are now at Churchill Downs, but they won't be taking part in the 150th Run for the Roses.

In a few weeks, the brightly painted, life-size statues of thoroughbred horses will be placed at locations throughout Louisville as part of Gallopalooza, also known as Louisville's "Sidewalk Derby." It was created in 2004 as a civic pride initiative to beautify Louisville's streets and showcase the work of local artists, according to its website.

This year 75 full-size horses and 75 tabletop statues were created to celebrate Kentucky Derby 150.

Most people usually see the life-size statues one at a time outside local businesses from April through October, but they're all on display from March 22 through March 24 at Churchill Downs' First Turn Club.

The three-day event at the racetrack is the only chance you'll have to see them all together in the same place.

"When they get scattered to 75 different locations, it's a journey to see them all," Michelle Black White, co-chair for Gallopalooza 2024, said. "There's just a lot of excitement that's here. There are opportunities to participate in a scavenger hunt and a coloring contest."

There are 75 life-sized horse statues and their models on display from March 22 through March 24.

You can view the statues and vote for your favorite at Churchill Downs' First Turn Club. It's open March 22 through March 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is a 2024 Pegasus Pin. Those pins sell for $7 if you buy them from local retailers, or you can get one at the event for $10.

A VIP preview was held Thursday. Tickets for that event were $75 per person and included a cocktail reception with hors d'oeuvres and food stations.
