LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — One of the largest parades in the country marched through the streets of downtown Louisville Sunday.
The Kentucky Derby Festival's Pegasus Parade went down 17 blocks on Broadway in downtown, showing off floats, dance and community groups.
The theme for this year was "Festival on the Move." Marching bands from all over the country took part of the event, along with equestrian units, and floats.
The parade started in 1956 and is now the Derby Festival's oldest event.
"The Clydesdales, the big Pegasus balloon and all the people," Melissa Spencer, spectator. "You know, the part of our town, our community. It's pretty cool everybody comes together this time of year."
Members of the Kentucky Derby Festival's Royal court also made an appearance along with several police and fire departments.
