LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The countdown to the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon starts this weekend.
The first run for participants of the Norton Sports Health Training Program is scheduled for this Saturday, Jan. 10.
The free 15-week program was designed for runners and walkers of all experience levels. All participants have to do is register.
Training starts at 8 a.m. at the Swags Sport Shoes South location on Third Street Road in the Auburndale Shopping Center and continues weekly on Saturdays and Wednesdays at different locations through race day.
Participants will run two and six miles, respectively, as part of the training.
This year marks the 53rd for the annual miniMarathon and the 25th for the Marathon, scheduled for Saturday, April 25.
