Acting LMPD Chief Robert Schroeder speaks during a news briefing on June 10, 2020, to discuss the process the city will use to find a new police chief following the firing of Steve Conrad on June 1. Schroeder also announced a new policy governing when tear gas will be deployed to disperse crowds.

Mayor Greg Fischer said Wednesday it could take up to six months to find a new police chief.
"We don't use it casually," said acting chief Robert Schroeder.
Gentry will replace current Interim Chief Robert Schroeder, who is retiring Oct. 1 after serving only three months in the role.
