Many Kentuckians faced with unemployment and back rent due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are now wondering when evictions will resume in the state.
A court-ordered mediation on Thursday involving Gov. Andy Beshear’s office could determine when Kentuckians will once again face eviction for failing to pay rent, with the state Supreme Court saying it’s ready to process those cases as soon as next week.
Two programs were launched in July to help Jefferson County residents avoid eviction and utility disconnection.
