LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A bourbon company linked to The Kentucky Castle faces lawsuits over claims of unpaid bills.
The legal complaints against TKC Distilling Co. total $1.5 million, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
TKC is the producer of the True Story bourbon brand, launched by Angel's Envy co-founder Wes Henderson.Â
Louisville-based architectural firm Luckett & Farley claims it's owed nearly $1 million for design work on TKC's Edgewood distillery project and other related projects, including work on the masterplan for The Kentucky Castle.Â
According to the complaint, LBF reported, the firm and TKC entered into a contract for the masterplan in September 2022, and entered a second contract for the Edgewood distillery in October 2023.
In a separate case, Peggy Noe Stevens & Associates filed a complaint alleging TKC owes more than $510,000 for consulting services under an agreement that began in January 2024.
Henderson previously told LBF that Stevens and her firm were hired to build out the home place of the Edgewood distillery on what he called a "campus." Luckett & Farley designed a 59,000-square-foot distillery, designed to produce about 61,000 barrels a year.Â
In August 2024, Henderson unveiled a project to build a distillery and lodging attraction on the former 150-acre site of The Kentucky Castle in Versailles, near the Edgewood distillery.
