Gov. Andy Beshear plans to unveil a 'bonus' incentive for Kentuckians receiving unemployment benefits to go back to work, taking a cue from other states that have created similar programs.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear on Thursday issued an executive order that allows college athletes in Kentucky to profit from their name, image and likeness, beginning next week. He is the first governor in the U.S. to make such a move by executive order.
Beshear said the bonus program is a compromise meant to get Kentuckians off the sidelines while also resisting calls from employers and Republicans to end the federal $300 weekly supplement to jobless claims.
