With his gravelly voice and trademark pipe, Schnellenberger became perhaps the greatest builder of college football programs in the game's history.
The legendary coach and father of modern University of Louisville football passed away Saturday at the age of 87.
The Schnellenberger Trophy features western dress boots, now bronzed, that were worn by Schnellenberger when he coached both teams to national prominence.
