Before closing in 2018, the Jeffboat site was at one time the largest inland shipbuilding in the US, and the second largest builder of barges.
The first of three public hearings was held Monday evening for residents to give their opinions on the future of the property in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
The public is invited to attend an open house Tuesday to discuss proposed plans to redevelop the old Jeffboat site along the Ohio River in Jeffersonville.
