Police confirm a Jeep set on fire in the early hours of Sept. 23 at Jamestown Apartments in St. Matthews was the Jeep used in the drive-by shooting that killed 16-year-old Tyree Smith. Smith was shot at a JCPS bus stop Wednesday morning. The scene has been cleared and the case and vehicle have been turned over to LMPD. Sept. 23, 2021Â

The vehicle, which had been stolen, was discovered at the Jamestown Apartments around 1:30 a.m., St. Matthews Police Chief Barry Wilkerson confirmed. It had "minimal damage," he said.Â
