Staff members say during this time of year, winter weather and sickness prevent people from going out and donating.
The Kentucky Blood Center says seven mobile blood drives have been canceled this week alone -- and now its putting the word out that donors are needed.
There is no known risk of transmitting the virus through blood, but the greater concern is the loss of donations due to drive cancellations, social distancing, and possible quarantines.
