Kentucky State Police released the names of the Nelson County sheriff's deputies who it said shot and killed an 80-year-old man dead after he pointed a gun at them during a traffic stop on Jan. 7, 2026.

The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Shell station at Bloomfield and Guthrie Drive, just east of downtown Bardstown.
