The program mails a free book each month to children until their fifth birthday.
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Louisville mailed its 500,000th free book to children under 5 and now serves more than 20,000 across Jefferson County.
Several groups including Hardin County Schools, Elizabethtown Independent Schools and the Central Kentucky Community Foundation are urging residents to take advantage of the program.
