LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One person is dead and another was injured after crashing their car into a tree and a utility pole in Louisville's Buechel neighborhood Sunday evening.
Matthew Sanders, a spokesman for Louisville Metro Police, said officers responded to the intersection of Breckenridge Lane and Redding Road on a single vehicle crash just before 5:15 p.m.
Police found two injured people on scene. According to Sanders, both of them were taken to UofL Hospital where one of them died and the other has serious but non-life threatening injuries.
LMPD's Traffic Unit said the vehicle was going fast in the northbound lanes, then for an unknown reason, lost control and crossed over into the opposite lanes and crashed into a utility pole and a tree.
This caused the power to go out in the area and LG&E is working to restore it. LG&E told LMPD that power might not be fully restored until the morning.
According to an outage map at 7:45 p.m., there were 995 customers without power.
