LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Hardin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly weather-related crash.

Deputies responded to the crash on Dixie Highway in West Point, Kentucky, shortly before 6 a.m. Monday.

Investigators said a vehicle lost control due to weather-related road conditions, crossed into the opposite lane, and collided with another vehicle.

After the initial crash, another car struck one of the drivers involved, according to police. It’s unclear whether the second crash involved a driver outside or inside their vehicle.

Police said both drivers from the initial crash were taken to UofL Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

One of the drivers later died, but investigators have not released their identity.
