LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit and killed, and a second person was stabbed Sunday morning in south Louisville.

A spokesperson with the Louisville Metro Police Department confirmed Seventh Division officers responded to Harry's Pay Lake in the 10000 block of Barricks Road just before 6:30 a.m. and found a man, believed to be in his 40s, who had been hit by a vehicle.

Police say the man hit and killed by the vehicle walked out of the woods near the lake and stabbed someone prior to getting hit by the car. Investigators say a family member of the person who was stabbed was driving to try and render aid when they hit the stabbing suspect with their car.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges are expected to be filed.

The stabbing victim, a man in his 20s, is expected to survive.

It does not appear as if the stabbing victim or the deceased knew one another, police said. A motive remains unclear.

"I'm just shocked, I can't believe this because this is really a dead end street and it's quiet," said neighbor Bruce McCauley.
