The Powerball jackpot for Monday night's drawing (Dec. 15) is currently estimated at $1.1 billion — the sixth-largest jackpot ever. It will be the 43rd drawing in the current jackpot run — setting a game record for most consecutive drawings in a single jackpot cycle, according to the news release.
The next Powerball jackpot drawing will be at 11 p.m. EST Monday (Dec. 15).
Lottery officials remind winners to sign the back of their ticket to claim their winnings within 180 days at the lottery headquarters in downtown Louisville.
The odds of winning the top prize are miserable, at 1 in 292.2 million. It’s those odds that create the large jackpots that are designed to attract attention and drive up sales.
Powerball tickets sell for $2 each. The game is offered in 45 states plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
