LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Two men accused of holding an Italian man hostage as they tried to access his cryptocurrency were both slapped a $1 million bail.

John Woeltz of Smithland, Kentucky, near Paducah, and William Duplessie of Miami, pleaded not guilty to kidnapping, assault and coercion among other charges.

Prosecutors said the suspects abducted, beat and shocked the 28-year-old victim. At one point, they allegedly dangled him over a railing, threatening him with death.

He escaped weeks later after agreeing to provide his Bitcoin password.

It's not clear if the victim knew the suspects.
