LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 74-year-old man died Wednesday after he slammed into the back of an SUV in Laurel County.Â
It happened near 900 North Laurel Road in Laurel County, around 1 p.m. June 4, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police.
When troopers from Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London arrived at the scene, they found the victim -- Ronald Begley of London -- lying injured in the road near the 2024 Taotao moped he was riding, not far from a 2024 Chevrolet Trax SUV.
Begley was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in London, where he was pronounced dead by the Laurel County Coroner. Begley was not wearing a helmet, according to the release. Â
During the preliminary investigation, troopers determined both vehicles were northbound on North Laurel Road before the 67-year-old driver of the SUV stopped to make a left-hand turn. The moped failed to stop and collided with the rear of the SUV.
No other injuries were reported, and investigators don't suspect alcohol or drugs were factors in crash.Â
