LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A person died Thursday morning after a house fire in southern Indiana.

According to Tri-Township Fire & Rescue, crews were called to a reported structure fire just before 8 a.m. in the 900 block of West Water Street in Borden.

Once on scene, firefighters found a single-family home with heavy fire coming from the living room and kitchen.

Officials said the fire was extinguished within a few minutes and a primary search was conducted. Crews found a cat that was removed from the home.

The fire department said a victim was pulled from the home before crews arrived on scene. That person was taken to a local hospital where they died.

The Indiana State Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. No other information was immediately available.
