LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 78-year-old woman died early Saturday after her car collided with a pickup truck in Buechel.
The crash happened just before 7:30 a.m. Saturday on the Buechel Bypass at Plaza Avenue. Investigators from the Louisville Metro Police Department's Sixth Division responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision.
Investigators determined that a passenger vehicle was traveling southbound on the Buechel Bypass when the driver — now identified as 78-year-old Carolyn Greaves — was making a left-hand turn onto Plaza Avenue when she drove into the path of a pickup truck that was northbound on the bypass.
The impact from the crash sent Greaves' vehicle off the road and down a small hillside before it crashed into a tree. EMS responded and pronounced Greaves dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck came to a stop and remained in the northbound lanes. He was alert and conscious when taken to UofL Hospital, according to the news release.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision. LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
